This Chateau is one of the most exquisite private estates in Provence. Situated in the heart of the Rhone valley, within easy reach of Avignon, St Remy, Aix-en-Provence and the Carmargue area by the sea, which is famous for its horses and bird-life.
This Estate's glorious, fully enclosed landscape embraces 17 acres of mature wooded parkland, elegant formal gardens, orchards, streams and an exciting array of sports facilities. At its heart lies the jewel-like Château itself, set as a final flourish at the end of a long avenue of ancient plane trees.
Beautifully restored by the present owners to reflect its pure 18th century design, the Château has a sophisticated refinement, which is enhanced by its eclectic collection of antiques. The 21st century technology is also discreetly present.
The Château's interiors of some 850 square metres (to convert to square feet multiply by ten) have been restored to their former 18th Century glory and they are furnished with beautiful European and Oriental antique furniture and art. However, all the Château's services, including the heating, cooling, telecommunication, electrical and plumbing systems, are 21st century, as are the Kitchens, laundry rooms and all the bathrooms.
The Château enjoys three Reception rooms (50 square metres, 30 square metres and 26 square metres), a Library (50 square metres), a large formal Dining room (which seats up to 18 persons - 35 square metres), and an informal large, combined Dining room and Kitchen (70 square metres).
The Château has three large master bedroom suites, - with one king and two queen sized beds, and with one suite on the ground floor and two on the first floor. Each suite has an ensuite bathroom and a separate shower stall.
There are a further six bedrooms (with one king, two queen and two double sized beds and one with twin beds) on the second floor, each of which has its own ensuite bathroom (with showers in each bath) and all of which are tiled with lovely Provençal tiles.
The adjacent Farm building, of some 950 square metres, has been fully modernized and converted into, guest bedrooms, guest facilities, the Conference and Business Centre and certain sports facilities. The Farm building has a ground floor Dining room, which can also be used as a Card/Games room, off the Courtyard, which is serviced by its own professional kitchen.
All the seven guest bedrooms in the Farm building overlook a beautiful internal Courtyard with its cloisters, various seating areas, lawn, lemon trees, jasmine clad walls and a fountain. There is air-conditioning throughout and each room has its own internet connection and mobile phone with voice mail. The Estate's Concierge will help guests plan their stay in advance, by suggesting a wide variety of activities available in the region around the Estate. For those guests, who like to plan in advance, this service will enable them to arrive at the Château knowing exactly what their program will be.
In the balance of the Farm building, there is: a "Conference Room" with both seating for 20 people and "multi-media" facilities and its own reception room; the Salon Provençal; an adjacent, fully equipped "Business Centre" and the Estate Office. Last, but by no means least, the less sportif can spend all day lazing by the superb "mirror" swimming pool (25m x 10m x 4.5m), with its Olympic 1m spring board, water-polo facilities and its adjoining children's pool (3m x 3m x 0.6m).
For the sports enthusiast, or as the French say, for les sportif, a game of squash at three in the morning? A challenging set of tennis? Or a vigorous bout of water polo? At Château de Tourreau, you play what you like when you like - the tennis and basketball courts are floodlit. While the less sportif can walk in the extensive grounds, the more energetic can play basketball, have a workout in the gym area, or play a game of croquet, badminton or volleyball on the specially dedicated lawn.
The Chateau and/or the Farm building are rented out by the event, weekend, week, etc.
